Reparations
Director - Wilson Andres Borja Country - Colombia Time - 8:24 Reparations is an experimental animated short film that explores the phenomenon of migration (forced and voluntary), through the fragmentation and modulation of a character: A chair that moves as a result of invisible forces. Forces that sometimes represent coloniality, in others industrialization and in the most complex, the consequences of war. The chair object incorporates a search in the middle of marginalization, adaptation and inequality, through a series of urban scenarios in which symbols of the African diaspora that survived and dispersed in the Americas are displayed. The chair embodies the result of these interactions, claiming expressions of resistance such as African percussion and the use of Quilts. |
Vegeversary
Director - Sarah Mae Schmidt Country - United States Time - 4:00 A rabbit's friends take her on a meat-bender to celebrate her vegan-anniversary. They hitch a ride to town and indulge in all kinds of foods she avoids all year long. The evening has its ups and downs. Her friends reward her with a soy-based breakfast in the morning. |
This Is a Story Without a Plan
Director - Cassie Shao Country - United States Time - 7:35 Two people, and an explosion. This Is a Story Without a Plan envisions two characters witnessing a constant explosion in different fragments of their lives. It is a tale of observers but of an unpredictable nature, reflecting on both the characters' relationships with the explosion and each other. |
& MORE
Director - Tsz-wing HO Country - Hong Kong Time - 3:11 & MORE draws from the architecture of the M+ museum of Hong Kong. Our film challenges the definition of a museum by looking at it as an object itself. Through a geometric play of shapes and forms in the M+ building, we explore what underpins our material world. |
BurgerWorld
Director - Maddie Brewer Country - United States Time - 8:39 Two co-workers at a derelict fast-food franchise accidentally discover a yonic meat portal to another realm — a “burger” world, wherein they’re the only ones who can liberate an oppressed vegetable populace from the all-controlling hand of big meat. |
