Jean-Charles Mbotti Malolo graduated from the animation film section of Emile Cohl school in 2007. His student film The Heart is a Metronome received the Hiroshima film festival’s Debut Price in 2008. Even though drawing was his first passion, dance has always been part of his way of expression. He joined his first dance company in 2008. The love he has for drawing and movement in general drove him once again to explore the bridges between the two. He got introduced to sign language in 2011 and started learning it the next year in order to write The Sense of Touch. The film received several international prices. The Words, his first choreographed piece took shape in 2017. The narrative form continued to follow the path of non-verbal communication.  On his recent short film Make it Soul, Simon Roussin gontributed art direction, and he co-wrote the piece with Nicolas Pleskof and Amaury Ovise. The film was nominated for the French Oscar of the Best Animated Short in 2020. His lastest work Ex Aequo!, is a hybrid documentary TV series about discrimination athletes faced during their careers. jeancharlesmbottimalolo.tumblr.com
