Duo Kinetica (pioneering moving-image artist Eric Dyer and world-renowned pianist Jiayin Shen) performs mind-bogglingly beautiful and imaginative animated visuals paired with piano works of Scott Joplin, John Adams, Steve Reich, Osvaldo Golijov, Aphex Twin, Nils Frahm, Beethoven recomposed, and others. Dyer’s performance method, Visual Turntablism, mashes up contemporary DJ performance practices and phenakistiscopes, the earliest form of animation and motion pictures as we know them today. Duo Kinetica presents a poetic visual-musical experience that explores themes such as non-violence, motion hidden in everyday life, the city symphony, moving-image history, industrial heydays, and our relationship with technology.
